Stoneware vs Earthenware:
Firing temperature: Stoneware is fired at a higher temperature than earthenware, which makes it denser and less porous
Earthenware: Fired at a lower temperature, typically between 1800 and 2000°F .
Stoneware: Fired at a higher temperature, typically between 2200 and 2400°F. This higher temperature causes stoneware glazes to drip and run giving it’s signature look.
Durability: Stoneware is harder and more durable than earthenware.
