At Art & Clay on Main, inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do. As a nonprofit social enterprise owned by the Fairfield County Board of Developmental Disabilities, we are committed to providing a welcoming and accessible space for all members of our community.
Our 2023 renovation was designed with accessibility as a top priority, ensuring that every guest, regardless of ability, can fully enjoy our paint-your-own pottery studio and Square 7 Coffee House. From barrier-free entryways and spacious seating to accessible restrooms and thoughtfully designed workspaces, we have created an environment where creativity and connection can thrive for everyone.
One of our most exciting accessibility improvements is our fully redesigned paint bar, which now spans an entire wall and is equipped with:
- Two complete sets of tools and stations, including sinks for brush water and handwashing.
- Pull-out drawers with palettes for easy access to glaze colors.
- Thoughtful sink design with one faucet positioned for left-handed use and the other for right-handed use.
- Grab bars installed for personal stability.
- Countertops at lowered height for comfortable access.
- Protective covers over sink plumbing, ensuring safety for people in wheelchairs.
- Broad selection of 80 glaze colors at the main bar, all reachable for small children or adults from a seated position
We believe that art is for all, and we are proud to offer a space that reflects that belief. If you have any specific accessibility needs or questions, please reach out to our General Manager—we are happy to assist in any way we can.
