We are a Non-Profit, Social Enterprise of the Fairfield County Board of Developmental Disabilities
A Social Enterprise can be either for-profit or non-profit. Art & Clay on Main and Square 7 are both Non-Profit with a 501c3 federal tax status.
Our mission is to provide opportunities that promote independence. We work to achieve our mission through permanent employment, termed internships, social engagement, and community involvement. We foster a culture of kindness and inclusion throughout our businesses, where all walks of life are welcomed and treated with equality. We want our staff and visitors to leave our studio daily feeling positively impacted and personally elevated.
Another piece of our mission, as part of Fairfield DD, is to help bring about a vibrant community. We participate in free community events such as the United Way Day of Action, Art Walk, Festival Fair Day, Saturday Cinemas, Seed of Change at Rising Park, and host free, live music performances in our studio several times throughout the year. We offer art instruction to all abilities. Art and Clay “takes our show on the road” by offering registration-based classes and workshops at locations throughout Fairfield County (schools, parks, farms, etc.), to reach people who may not be able to get to our downtown studio. We advertise these, and all our events, on our website and social media pages throughout the year.
A social enterprise (SE) is a business that intentionally integrates social impact as a non-negotiable component of its business model. There are always two goals for SEs: to achieve social, cultural, economic and/or environmental outcomes; and, to earn revenue. In short, the social purpose and underlying mission are at the heart of every business decision made in SEs. Art & Clay and Square Seven are proud to be a part of the social enterprise movement in Central Ohio.
